My name is Diana Birkey.
In the early months of 2001, I developed a rash, began to lose
weight rapidly and starting having trouble breathing. A biopsy
revealed I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It was a 16 cm mass that
would require chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
My church body and
many Christians started praying for me. After just two chemotherapy
treatments, the mass had shrunk to 10 cm. I went to church as
often as I could during my chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
I needed to be in the House of the Lord even if I had to lie down.
The music lifted my spirit. For me, it was like David playing
his harp for King Saul (1 Samuel 16:23).
I knew I was in God’s
hands. He was there with me every step of the way. I was never
alone. I like to look at my “no more” list to remind
myself of His faithfulness.
